That's why we're inviting you to the first-ever AACP Un-Convention—a welcoming, interactive, and energizing three-day experience designed specifically for professionals working in community psychiatry.

Join colleagues from across the country to learn from one another, exchange practical strategies, build meaningful connections, and leave renewed in your commitment to and capacity for this work.

Here’s What’s in Store:

  • Connect with colleagues and the Atlanta community while exploring housing insecurity, policing and mental health, the crisis continuum of care, and trauma-informed approaches.

  • Support one another with practical workshops focused on caring for individuals with complex needs, including substance use disorders, medical co-morbidities, migrants, and faith-based mental health care.

    Build skills for success in public psychiatry by mastering clozapine in the post-REMS era, learning about mobile crisis and ACT teams, exploring best practices for people living with serious mental illness, and navigating the criminal legal system and Medicaid cuts.

  • Be inspired to create meaningful change by learning how to establish strong community partnerships, collaborate with people with lived experience, and continue advancing DEI efforts in today's evolving environment.

The AACP Fall Conference will be $300 for general members and $100 for trainees. CME will be available.


Trainee Poster Call for Submissions

The AACP Un-Convention Planning Committee is honored to release the Trainee Poster call for submissions!

We encourage submissions that highlight scholarship with direct relevance to improving mental health care delivery.

The deadline for submitting your proposal is July 31st, 2026, and acceptances will be communicated by Aug 15th, 2026.

Direct registration links will be shared upon communication of acceptance; the fee is $100.

Submission Requirements

Abstracts must include:

Title
Authors and affiliations
At least one faculty supervisor (can be any licensed staff- psychiatrist, psychologist, SW, etc.)
300-word maximum abstract
Three key highlights (brief bullet points summarizing the project's main takeaways)
Three references published within the past five years

Eligibility

Submissions must describe completed projects with available results.

We welcome:

  • Original research

  • Quality improvement projects 

  • Program evaluations

  • Educational scholarship

  • Case series involving three or more patients

We do not accept:

  • Case reports

  • Literature reviews

  • Projects without results or works in progress

Review Criteria:

  • Relevance to public and community psychiatry

  • Innovation

  • Scientific and methodological quality

  • Practical impact

  • Potential for dissemination and replication

Poster Presentation

Accepted presenters will display their work during one of two dedicated trainee poster sessions at the AACP Un-Convention on Saturday, Oct 10th, 2026, in Atlanta, GA.

These sessions provide an opportunity to discuss projects with leaders in public psychiatry from across the country, receive feedback, and build collaborations.

We especially encourage first-time presenters to submit. The AACP is committed to supporting the next generation of community psychiatrists and creating opportunities to showcase innovative work that improves the lives of individuals and communities.

Registration

All submitters whose posters are accepted agree to pay the $100 registration fee and be present in person to discuss their poster on Saturday, Oct 10th, 2026, in Atlanta, GA.

Awards

There will be 2 best poster awards of $1000 each, as well as 2 second-place posters of $500 each. All presenters will receive a certificate.

We look forward to receiving your submission and celebrating the outstanding work being done by trainees across the country.
