Patrick Runnels, M.D.

Dr. Runnels attended medical school at the University of Missouri, Columbia, completing general psychiatry residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and the Public Psychiatry Fellowship at Columbia University. During his time in New York, he completed rotations in public policy work both at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, as well as a full year at the New York State Office of Mental Health. Additionally, he completed international administrative and clinical work in Belize, and worked within the extensive New York City mental health system.

After moving to Cleveland in 2008, he joined the faculty in Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals medical system. In that role, he serves as the director of the Public and Community Psychiatry Fellowship. Outside the hospital system, he works clinically at several community mental health agencies throughout town, including: Center for Families and Children, where he is the medical director: Mental Health Services, where among other things, he directs the homeless and psychiatric outreach rotation; and Magnolia Clubhouse, where he is cofounder of the Carriage House clinic. He serves on the Council for Advocacy and Government relations of the APA and is a recipient of the APA Bristol-Meyers Squib Public Psychiatry Fellowship Award, during which time he served on the APA Board of Trustees.
